Haul time

I ordered a few things from sephora and nyx.

Let’s start with NYX first. There website can be found here and I purchased all these items myself.

I purchased the bon voyage Go To Palette. It is the more colorful one out of the two choices in these palettes. It retails for 17.00 and can be found here.I also purchased a brush so I could get free shipping.

The bronzer blush and highlighter

Top row

Bottom row
I also got a brush but it didn’t photograph well. I actually am unimpressed with it but love the to go palette. I can’t wait to use it. Only downside is for being on the go there is no mirror.

Now on to sephora

I purchased an Urban Decay primer potion. I got it for ten dollars but it is no longer on sale.

A search of Kat von d lipstick in noble. It’s the perfect nude. The website describes it as a cult favorite and matte petal pink nude. It retails for 21.00.

I’m trying this mask out. I think it might be a great dupe for the glam glow masks. Here I am wearing it. The retail price is 19.00.

I can say it’s thicker than the glam glow. And after removing it my skin did feel soft and matte.

Have you hauled anything lately. If so please share.

Halloween blog hop 2014: 3rd grade painting

I wasn’t sure what look I wanted to do for this blog hop. I wanted to do something unique yet simple that anyone can recreate. Then TA DA the third grade picture lets you play with your makeup and colors yet is easy to replicate. Here is how I did it.

Fresh Face

Draw flowers, rainbow, anything you want but it has to be imperfect. This is to look like a third grader painted it. I used Jordana eyeshadow pencil in Black.

Then I filled in with various cheek stains, lipsticks, and cream eyeshadows.

I blended the background making a point to not stay in the lines etc. To me the beauty of this is the child like feel. And the finish product.

  • Products used: Jordana eyeshadow crayon in Black
  • Nyx Jumbo eye pencils in Cashmere and Rust
  • Radiant Orchid Sephora pantone cream blush
  • ELF Matte Lip Color in rich red

Check out these other posts in the blog hop and have a wonderfully spooky Halloween!

QVC Today’s Special Value, EDIVV and Being MIA

Hello Beauties,

Sorry I haven’t posted in a few days I have been travelling with limited access to my photos to include in posts. Then I got a case of tonsillitis. BBBOOOOO!

I am finally feeling better and getting caught up with posts. I plan on writing a few ahead so I don’t get behind like that again. I always say that to myself then I never do but I am in the mood to write and showcase some posts I have been wanting to do.

SO all that aside. I have to tell you about today’s QVC TSV (Today’s Special Value)

I love qvc way too much. The TSV today is a new Mally product. A sponge foundation. I am so in love with IT cosmetics that I had to try a different one. Plus it has several exclusive things at a great price. 163.00 is retail and with shipping it’s a smidgen over 70.00. Hell YA! For a shop-a-holic like me it is a no brainer plus I want to try most of what is in the kit.

Here is a picture and I got it in fair. That is the one thing I hate is you can’t tell the colors. But I figure I can bronze it up and my It cosmetics one is in light so better to have a more winter one. Right???

To learn more check out the website here. There is an interesting video sharing how the foundation works.

Lastly I found an awesome makeup swap website. Edivv.com The video explaining how it works can be found by clicking on the video below. The link to Edivv will give me a chance to earn sephora gift cards. It is the only “compensation” like item in mentioning this site and only if you use my link to join. I have not swapped anything yet as just joined but I have an item or two listed.

How eDivv Works

Ok well that is it for now. Comment, questions, random thoughts below. Follow either on wordpress or bloglovin please 😀 and if you don’t mind my social media sites as well found to your right. ———->>>>

Quick Haul

I had a DRS appt in a city I had to travel too so I took advantage and went to Ulta and a JC Penney Sephora. I am not a fan of the JC Penney ones as they are very limited and don’t have the beauty bar areas. But come to find out they do have some pretty cool exclusive stuff.

But first I went to Ulta and this is what i picked up.

  • Lorac 2 Palette — I could not resist and I promise I tried!!
  • Aero Minerale Makeup Mist concealer in Biscuit. I have been wanting to try this for awhile.
  • Lastly NYX eyebrow Gel.

new vs old lorac pro

Kind of a blurry picture there but the 2 is on the left and the lovingly used 1 on the right. I love how it’s a similar theme BUT totally different colors.

Two Youtube videos show better than I can … Saaammage did the NYX get versus Makeup For ever’s gel video and Vintage or Tacky did the swatches of the Lorac 2.

She also did two more videos on an interesting looks using the palette.

Next I went to Sephora. I had issues with some of my returns so I just exchanged for these items.

Here is the Loot 😀
This is the Meet The Match JC Penney inside Sephora exclusive

In this kit you get three sets of matching lippie and polish.

  • Bite Beauty Strangefruit is the purple lippie
  • Nails Inc Devonshire Row is the matching polish
  • OCC Stained Gloss in Hush is a nude
  • Formula X Invincible is the matching polish
  • Tarte Lipsurgence Elite is the coral color
  • Deborah Lippmann GIrls Just Want To Have Fun is matching polish

I don’t have any of those brands in those colors and some I don’t have any at all so I am excited to try them out.

Stila In The Know Shadow Palette

occ tarred feathered

I got the OCC Tarred and Feathered in this pan form to try out before I invest in the full size tubes. I am going to play around with it but I think it will be useful.

And that was it. Besides my son’s Toys r us haul for his birthday. Which they are having their huge clearance sell. Not that he wanted toys on sale but still. lol Just letting you know!

Comments, Questions, random thoughts please leave below and follow my blog and all my social media sites found to your right 😀 I appreciate you all!!!!

Foundation Friday

Since I have a serious foundation obsession. I love to find and try new ones. This has lead me to do a ongoing series every Friday I will feature a Foundation I have tried and will review it. I have two disclosures. I bought this product with my own money and my thoughts are my own and my skin type is normal/combo. I use to be on the dry side in all areas but my nose and chin. I now don’t so much have dry patches as weird lines and textural issues on my nose with a super oily chin. So obviously if you have awesome 20 year old skin this review might not be good for you. 😀

Today is Sephora’s Perfection Mist Airbrush Foundation. It comes in five colors — Fair, Light, Medium, Tan, and Deep. Per the Sephora website it retails for $26.00 US and is described as…

What it is:
An airbrush foundation with an extra fine mist for flawless makeup results at home.

What it does:
Seamlessly blur imperfections and control shine for up to 10 hours with this satin-finish foundation. The weightless, micro fine pigments of InstaBlend technology ensure color lays down seamlessly smooth so you can build to your desired coverage level—from light to full—for a flawless look every time. Mineral-rich red algae extract protects the skin from environmental stresses and helps smooth the skin for a soft-focus, airbrushed finish that lasts.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Phthalates

What else you need to know:
This oil-free, extra fine mist is easy to apply, non-comedogenic, and dermatologist-tested.

Here is my handy dandy container.

052 055

I ordered it in light. It is more on the yellow side. I wore it three days. Here are the pictures in the am and end of day.

First day = First impression. I loved it felt great light coverage. I did not directly spray it on but used my sonia Kashuk brush. It is a light formula that I had issues trying to build up. I felt it hid my pores very well and didn’t oxidize.

016 017

End of day in natural light was ok. My healing blemish is showing through and regardless on my chin I am shiny. My other problem area is my nose and it did do well to not settling into those pores and the wear off was even and not blotchy.

032 034

The arrows are pointing out where spraying it directly on my face and it got in my hair. I even tried to hide my hair. GRRRR And I just couldn’t get any build able coverage.

End of Day Two — not streaky but not real visible either.

This was my last day of wearing it before I decided it just wasn’t for me. More about that later. I did use it cosmetics bye bye under it in the middle of my face where I am reddest. I did the brush again. I would spray directly on the brush then buff it in.

008 009

I must say the end of day was consistent. Wore off even but really can’t tell I even have any make up on. Which is a pro IF you love this look — a your skin but better look. For my age though I want a foundation that stays put and I want to look like I have foundation on. HA I know I am probably silly but dang it I want people to know I have awesome product and application technique for my canvas. lol Now I would love this if I had a job interview and was wearing it for a short time and didn’t want to come off as a diva. (Which I normally love being a diva BUT try to tone it down for work) It’s great at truly hiding my pores around my nose and nose/cheek area. I think a color match might be hard but I also think it is forgiving. I give this a B+.  A lot of people say it is an awesome alternative/dupe for the Dior Airshow (I think that’s what it is called) . It is 62.00 and I believe those folks. I won’t be buying it to compare — just keeping it real. The other thing I am leery of is being a spray I am not sure how long it would last.

So I think that is the majority of my thoughts on the product. I am glad I gave it a try but for my age it is a MEH. If I had a daughter who was of make up age I think it would be perfect.

GRWM: I am taking credit for the Seahawks win.

Ok so I mean my title tongue in cheek. I of course am not the reason but most of the folks at our Superbowl party were rooting for Broncos. In fact my hubby decorated our living room for it with his Bronco blanket and Christmas twinkling lights. I should have taken a picture but I was too busy talking my girlfriends ear off. I had a lot to rant about 😀 I went with the seahawks more to have a reason to do a blue look as I am too scared to do it as a work look.

Here is the finish result.

I also took the opportunity to try out some products which I will do more in-depth reviews later this month about. Here is how the look come together mainly in pictures. If there is something anyone wants reviewed before something else please leave a comment below.

bare faced
Don’t forget to moisurize
Ben Nye HD Matte Foundation Samples From Makeup Mania
I went with the one on the left for all over my face and the one on the right for my undereyes
I have oily lids so gotta prep the shadows
Wha-la lol
This is a mix of odds and ends gray shadows and a broken Sephora Metal shade shadow for transition shade
Cheaquered Lily shade in Mrs Peacock on lid and under the eyes
On outer v and crease Bare Minerals Caviar liner shade
NYX Gunmetal in waterline and tightline
First I tried this as my liner but it did not show up well at all
Boo Hoo NO Good.
So tried this next. I would not recommend buying this FYI
Pretty sure this wasn’t much better can you even see it?
Second thing I tried was these two verses each other
Which Do You like better? Can you tell a difference?
Closer up
Used Both of these on my Undereyes. The Ben Nye HD matte foundation and Clarins line filler
Attempted to use a stipple brush to apply under my eyes
Foundation with Beauty Blender first.
It did neutralize my redness.
Other side I compared applying with a brush
You can really see how much sheer the beauty blender applies
I decided I to apply it heavier so other side added more with brush.
I love this bronzer very easy to use
Can you tell where I put it?
Since eyes so bright wanted a light flush of color on the cheeks
I was not happy with the foundation so I wasn’t feeling like smiling 😦
Mixed these two for my highlight
Close up one was too dark and one too light so I mixed 😀
A light dusting to help melt the bronzer into face.
I liked it a little better.
Decided I needed a spray to help un-matte the look. I was too chalky looking
Got this baby for 75% off and it is a nice formula
But I wanted a little more color to my lips
So Added this Pop Party Lip Color
Much better
Got to have them eyebrows on point.
I felt like a stronger eyebrow so went with Rich Brown
Don’t forget to highlight on that brow bone
Do you think it makes a difference?
I like the formula of this but I have issues with the wand.
See I always poke somehow one of my eye balls and jerk with this stuff? I don’t know how I do it.
Natural light
Fake light
Ok decided to do my hair too. Always need to protect and this inexpensively does the job.
And ta da.. done You can see my curl peeking out there as I am trying to be artsy in my picture. Werk it girl! lol

So that was it. I thought it was cool the under dog actually won. The social worker in me loves an under dog story though I do like Peyton Manning. Anyway back to the girly stuff! HA

Birthday Haul

Here is a picture of the foundation from Sephora: Click Link to Purchase

nikon 10181976 008

I purposefully got the tan hoping to use it as a way to darken my lighter foundation. In particular the MAC I bought when I was at my palest last winter. It has went back as I decided even at 9.00 there was less expensive things I could mix it with and it didn’t seem to be a HG kind of formula. While at the store I did ask for a sample just in case I regretted the decision.

Here is a picture of the OCC Lip Tar set I purchased

nikon 10181976 006
They are very thick and smeared super easy! The colors are Black Dahlia described as a blackened red, Anime described as vibrant neon pink, Momento described as a pink/plum neutral, and NSFW a true-balanced Red. All are gorgeous. I did previously purchase the Black Metal Dahlia and it is way prettier and a better tone BUT I think if I get the white or some other color to lighten the color it could be gorgeous on me. I do think on darker skins it would look awesome or if I had fuller lips.

I did not take a picture of the Sephora Eye Shadow’s I purchased. Here is a stock photo.

I purchased the Taupe Silver which arrived broke and has been returned and the Golden Taupe. Both were very pretty. The picture above is for the one I kept.

I am in love with my Tarte Off the Cuff 12-hour Blush Palette and Bracelet

H ere is a Stock Photo of this one too.

From http://www.musingsofamuse.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Tarte-Off-The-Cuff-Amazonian-Clay-12-Hour-Blush-Palette-Bracelet1.jpg

Next because I have thin lips and didn’t want to invest in a ton of lip pencils I purchased Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide On Lip Pencil in Ozone.

So far I like it but I wouldn’t buy different colors.

From ASOS.com I purchased two things that had high reviews on Makeup Alley.

Bourjois Healthy Mix FOundation in 52 Vanilla

I am on the fence about it. It doesn’t seem to last all day or be anything special. I think it might go back. Plus the packaging was iffy to me and I am having issues letting it go.

Next is the Bourjois Bronzing Primer … it is a cool texture but I don’t really see that it does anything when worn under the foundation and as a primer I have no need for it to be on top?????

Well that is pretty much it other than the free samples from Sephora. I talk a little about them in the Youtube video I just posted. Go check it out too, please and subscribe if you like what I have to say and willing to stick it out while I improve my quality.
