Splurge or Steal: Pen Eyeliners

I prefer to use a eyeliner pen then any other eyeliner type. For me I can get a closer more precise line. I have tried three different kinds one high end the others drugstore. Is the high end worth the splurge?

ELF Essential Waterproof liner is a 2.00, the jordana Fabuliner is 2.99 and the Lorac Front of the Line Pro Liquid liner is 23.00.

Here are the swatches. I have the Lorac in brown and black.

The ELF liner has a VERY hard tip. It is a total skip for me. The Jordana is excellent for the price BUT the splurge is worth it to me. The Lorac has a non fraying tip that is the perfect stiffness and give. I love a bargain but I won’t buy either of the drug store again.

Hope this review was helpful 😀 any other’s you can recommend me to try?

QVC TSV Mally Haul

Lookie what came in the mail yesterday. So excited.

The cool box design and a booklet that came with it. Has great tips on the greatest look.
All the goods
The booklet and all it’s tips
My new obsession is sponge foundations!!!
Lipstick, Shadow stick, and eyeliner

So far I am happy I purchased this. I will give a review of the foundation in the next week or two. I also want to do a comparison of the three kinds I have for price point differences.

Did any of you purchase this or plan too?

Please follow on wordpress and blogloving and don’t forget my social media either. Thanks!!!

QVC Today’s Special Value, EDIVV and Being MIA

Hello Beauties,

Sorry I haven’t posted in a few days I have been travelling with limited access to my photos to include in posts. Then I got a case of tonsillitis. BBBOOOOO!

I am finally feeling better and getting caught up with posts. I plan on writing a few ahead so I don’t get behind like that again. I always say that to myself then I never do but I am in the mood to write and showcase some posts I have been wanting to do.

SO all that aside. I have to tell you about today’s QVC TSV (Today’s Special Value)

I love qvc way too much. The TSV today is a new Mally product. A sponge foundation. I am so in love with IT cosmetics that I had to try a different one. Plus it has several exclusive things at a great price. 163.00 is retail and with shipping it’s a smidgen over 70.00. Hell YA! For a shop-a-holic like me it is a no brainer plus I want to try most of what is in the kit.

Here is a picture and I got it in fair. That is the one thing I hate is you can’t tell the colors. But I figure I can bronze it up and my It cosmetics one is in light so better to have a more winter one. Right???

To learn more check out the website here. There is an interesting video sharing how the foundation works.

Lastly I found an awesome makeup swap website. Edivv.com The video explaining how it works can be found by clicking on the video below. The link to Edivv will give me a chance to earn sephora gift cards. It is the only “compensation” like item in mentioning this site and only if you use my link to join. I have not swapped anything yet as just joined but I have an item or two listed.

How eDivv Works

Ok well that is it for now. Comment, questions, random thoughts below. Follow either on wordpress or bloglovin please 😀 and if you don’t mind my social media sites as well found to your right. ———->>>>

January Beauty Box Results 2014

So I have either ran out of my samples or used them enough to give my reviews. I got January’s late for two of the boxes so I am hoping to get on a more regular schedule for this series. Plus starting in March I am going to have a new series I hope you all will like so keep your eyes peeled (As kid I always found this saying gross… am I the only one??? LOL) To see what was in the boxes and the companies details see this post here. It also as links if you would like to sign up through me. Disclaimer: I purchased these boxes with my own money and my opinions are my own without compensation.

My results: This is an ok moisturizer. It did not leave my skin tight which is a must for a moisturizer as I tend to be more on the dry side then the oily side. I say if you have oily skin and organic things are important to you it is a good purchase. I did not use as a highlight on my brow bone as I have other things I am trying to use up but I think it would be perfect there as well. I do think it is versatile like that. I will not be repurchasing though.

My Results: This does have great staying power but for my age for every day use it is too shimmery. If I ever go out on a date with my husband again and want to jazz it up, I will use this for some extra pazazz without feeling not my age. I did not use it for a highlight because I have other things I want to use up first. I do think it will work awesome there though and look good if you want something very shimmery. I would buy this in different colors.

My Results: I LOVE THESE THINGS!! The issue is you can’t purchase these on their own and I don’t need the whole Proactiv System. So a fail in that aspect. Boo Hoo. If I could get them on their own I would purchase them.

My Result: I love this stuff. It is very pigmented and a lovely shade. It is moisturizing and had some staying power. I would purchase more colors IF I didn’t already have a ton of lip products. Due to my small lips I am just not a lippie junkie. Though I have my moments. I highly recommend if you can get a deal as I find MICA to be a little pricey for not being a top brand. Not that the quality isn’t there it’s just let’s be honest us girls can be swayed by brand names.

My results: OMG THIS STUFF IS THE BOMB!!!  I wish I had tried this out fully before the coupon code ran out. I at first thought meh I would get this after my neutragena had run out that is similar but this blows it out of the water. My hair hasn’t been this soft in years even with my coconut masks.

My results: This is a cool concept. I wish in hindsight I would have my smoker friend try it out as I best it would really work well for her BUT I can’t verify that. With that said I don’t think I get stinky enough to really say I would need these on a regular basis. (Or at least I hope not as it would be body odor … yuck so gross HA)

My results: There is no sugar coating this. For the fancy name and the price this is not worth it. LORAC’s is so much better. It drags and isnt that “shiny” as I like my black liquid liner to be. It’s not horrible but for the price there is better is the bottom line. I will be giving the extra away in the future as someone else might love it. That’s the great thing about makeup it’s all based on preference and opinion. There is no wrong answers! 😀

My Results: I gotta say I was not excited about this as my darker thick hair just doesn’t work with a lot of shampoos and not get that gray white cast. For that reason I never use the stuff. I have just plan given up. For the sake of review I tried this and I LOVE it. It actually did give my hair some oomph and revitalized it. I did not notice any gray or white cast. I would buy it again.

My Result: Meh. It is thick and does what it says but so does petroleum jelly. This to me is nothing special so I will not make a point to purchase it again but if gifted to me I wouldn’t feel disappointed either.

My Results: I have used this brand before and it is a great brand but not a Holy Grail brand. The cleanser was great and a little went a long way. I would make a point to buy this if it was sold in a store. The lotion was nothing special. The eye cream is not enough of a sample to say it really did what it said. It appears to be good and it is moisturizing.

My Results: This is like a lot of the things I tried. It is a worthy product just not one I would go out of my way to buy. If given to me again I would be happy to use it but I don’t feel it is any different or better then my Missha aqua cream. Price wise I will stick with the Missha.

My Results: I had already recently bought a beauty blender. I do like them and think everyone should have one in their beauty stash. I know the solid soap is pricey and I compared it to my much cheaper Dr Bonners and I will be doing a separate post in regards to comparing it. I will say though if money was no object to me I would re-purchase it. Until I win the lottery I probably won’t repurchase.

My Result: This color and consistency was beautiful. I wore it often the last few weeks. It has staying power and if I didn’t already have plenty of loose blushes I don’t use I would buy more.

My Results: I LOVE THIS FRAGRANCE! I would buy a full size and well might once this good size sample runs out. The Sea Salt Spray was a fail to me. It was very drying. I have a different brand Not Your Momma’s and it is drying as well but not so starchy drying. If that makes sense 😀 It will also be going in a give away as only used once.

And that is my conclusion/results. What do you think of these products if you have tried them as well?

Ipsy VS Birchbox VS Glossybox — Jan 2014 The items

I decided too many weeks into January to do a twice Monthly series this year comparing the various items I get in beauty boxes. I have gotten Ipsy for the last year and it is always worth it even if I have gotten irritated with the items I did not receive versus what I felt more popular people received. (I am easily annoyed as a retail person so really it doesn’t take much to get me miffed — I will just put that out there might as well be honest right 😀 ) I years ago got birchbox when they were brand new but felt the itty bitty samples I was getting then were not worth it. I heard recently they have a great points program so I decided to give them another try. I have a love/hate relationship with Glossybox. I got about four or five boxes last year and they ranged from awesome to ugh way over priced box. I find their customer service to be ineffective to rude depending on the situation and they are very inconsistent when they ship the boxes out. It is nerve-wracking to me. Hey I am Bi Polar so it happens lol. I decided to try them again with the fact I would get a beauty blender .. hell that pays for itself. The thing is I felt like I wasn’t going to get it. My money was taken but I never received an email and I tried emailing them and got nothing back. So I was trying to get my money back then lo and behold Saturday I got my box. Again this annoys me as why have I not gotten any email back??? And it seems fishy I get the box the day they take the money out for the next one so now I am stuck with February’s. Grrrr. I want to love them as they act so luxurious but maybe they are just to hi-falootin for me. 😀

So here is what I got from each box. This email will be the info about the items. I will then use them this month and review at the end of the month. Yays and Nays regardless.

The first box I received as besides one tragic month, I get this fairly quickly and on time, was Ipsy. Sometimes I get annoyed we don’t get the same stuff cuz there was times I wanted something like benefit’s benetint but never received it. I am for the most part over it but that may change depending on if i keep getting good stuff. And I know it’s only ten dollars BUT I hate to waste and some things I have received just haven’t been my cuppa tea. So it’s not that it’s not value wise worth it but sometimes quality wise it is a waste. I hope that made sense. I have taken the descriptions from the Ipsy website.

Ok so Birchbox came next. I can’t judge their shipping right now as I signed up two weeks into the month and still got it very quickly. I think it is suppose to come around when Ipsy does when you are on the continual box plan. It is ten dollars as well. What I received is below with the website’s description as well.

Birchbox Breakdown

Whether you’re coming from a smoke-filled bar or a dockside fish market, unpleasant smells have a way of traveling with you. For those in search of a quick fix, these wipes offer a powerful, portable solution. A few swipes from these one-step wonders will erase tough odors from clothing and hair, leaving nothing but a clean, crisp aroma. Stash a few in your pocket, desk, or gym bag for an anytime boost of freshness.

How it Works

Reviver wipes use a blend of dry, deodorizing compounds to remove persistent odors, replacing them with the scent of just-washed laundry. Their reuseable formula is designed for versatility, tackling everything from smoke, food, and pet odor to post-workout funk.

How to Use

Slide two fingers into the handy sleeve, then swipe the front pad across your clothes and hair to remove lingering odors. To generate a stronger scent, simply apply more pressure. Remember, each wipe is good for multiple uses, so think twice before tossing one in the trash.

I got two of the Cynthia Rowley liners as I used a code for a free one. I don’t really need two but I have been thinking of doing giveaways so it will be useful as a giveway. But first I need to see if it is giveaway worthy. Know what I mean. lol

Birchbox Breakdown

Fun fact about fashion designer Cynthia Rowley: For years, whenever she wanted to wear bold eyeliner, she had to resort to using a Sharpie on her lids. Luckily, the style whiz has created an easier and far safer alternative: this smudgeproof liquid liner. The pen-style tip makes for ultraprecise application, whether you’re stippling your bottom lash line or flicking to create the perfect cat eye. And the signature gold motif will ensure that it never gets lost in your (seemingly bottomless) makeup bag.

How it Works

This smudgeproof liquid liner creates a laser-like inky line. Choose from two shades: Black Ink or Brown Ink.

How to Use

Gently trace your upper lash line, working from the inner to the outer corner of each eye. Finish by lightly stippling your bottom lash line for extra definition. Follow with two coats of your favorite mascara. Store your liner with the tip down to prevent it from drying out.

Klorane’s dry shampoo is such a star, we’re convinced it deserves its own spot on the Hollywood Beauty Walk of Fame. The longtime choice of celebs like Gwyneth Paltrow and Diane Kruger, it’s been praised for its versatility as a grease buster, volumizer, and waterless cleanser (no wonder it snagged Allure’s Best of Beauty Award). Year after year, it continues to outperform its rivals with its pure botanical formula.

How it Works

Made with softening oat milk extracts, plus corn and rice starches, this ultra-fine powder spray leaves nary a trace of residue behind. It performs a heroic array of functions. For starters, it soaks up oil and sweat from your roots and helps revive second day hair. Next, it amps up volume and helps extend the life of blowouts. You can also use it as a texturing aide when you’re trying to perfect a tricky updo. We love taking it with us to the gym for a post-workout hair refresher, and it’s great for times when we’re on the road.

How to Use

Shake the can, and hold it about ten inches away from your head. Spray evenly on your roots. Let it sit for about two minutes to soak up any oil, then brush your hair and style as usual.

Discover the secret passed from nursing mothers to make-up artists. Originally created for new mothers facing sore nipples from breastfeeding, Dr. Lipp’s ultra hydrating, healing formula later gained a rep as the ultimate lip gloss, primer and multipurpose balm among savvy London makeup artists.

How it Works

Packed with all-natural ingredients, Dr. Lipp’s thick, rich, long lasting formula is clinically proven to repair rough, flaky lips and smooth dry skin patches. Purified Lanolin is the closest thing to your skin’s own natural oils so it provides instant effective relief and the complex combination of lipids replenishes dryness and seals in moisture. Bonus: This versatile lip balm and gloss also heals cuticles, split ends, sunburns, and even diaper rash.

How to Use

Squeeze a small amount onto your fingertip and apply to lips. Reapply when necessary.

Birchbox Breakdown

We appreciate when a brand can keep it real, and, let’s be honest, we’re probably not alone (right?). derma e®’s Evenly Radiant® Collection is loaded with natural ingredients to improve the condition of your skin, and leaves out all of that not-so-good-for-you stuff. Lackluster complexions are left healthy, glowing, and more even. Bonus: These products are 100 percent vegan and cruelty-free. The collection includes:

Evenly Radiant® Brightening Cleanser
Evenly Radiant® Dark Circle Eye Crème
Evenly Radiant® Brightening Serum

How it Works

derma e®’s Intensive Skin Brightening Complex is the key player in each product. Loaded which botanicals Madonna lily and bearberry, antioxidant green tea, and vitamins B3 and C, it lifts dull surface cells and impurities, boosting skin’s radiance and evening out tone (and leaving behind a lovely light citrus scent). The Cleanser’s pH balanced formula leaves skin fresh, clean, and healthy, while the Serum uses caffeine to increase circulation and witch hazel to quell and lingering irritation. The Eye Crème minimizes dark circles, fine lines, and puffiness. This team of glow-getters is perfect for those with uneven pigmentation, discoloration, dark spots, or sun damage.

How to Use

Morning and night, gently massage Cleanser into face and neck and rinse thoroughly. Then, squeeze a quarter-sized amount of Serum onto fingers and gently massage into face and neck. To top off your regimen, lightly dab a pea-sized amount of Eye Crème onto the undereye area until fully absorbed.

They put in these cards which were colorful and inspiring. Plus I want to get back into scrapbooking so I think they will be useful there.

The same disclaimer for points etc for Ipsy is same for Birchbox. If you would like to sign up please use my LINK. I would appreciate it!!!

Here is my Glossybox. The price is 21.00 and it promises high-end items. I know it’s not nice to rant in the beauty world BUT I want to be honest and sometimes things aren’t awesome and pretty. I really believe they just threw a box together for me so they didn’t have to refund my money as there were a couple different items in it then others got. This is a box that a majority of the people get all the same items. Many people whose post I saw got a body wash instead of the perfume (though I’d rather have the perfume so maybe I should rant???) and instead of the liquid cleaner which was why I really wanted to get the box I got a round hard beauty blender soap. (Though again I would rather have the hard to compare to how I clean my black ones so rant worthy???) All in all as I write this I guess it all worked out but the fact this is the second time Glossybox have been horrible customer service it just annoys me. So rant over and on to what I received.

I was excited to try this and is one of the items that makes this box worth the price. Once again the descriptions are from the website.

BCBGMAXAZRIA Bon Genre Eau De Parfum

The leather-and-lace trend illustrates a founding fashion principle: edgy and girly are best when combined. Nothing pulls off the contrast better than this intriguing new scent from BCBGMAXAZRIA. Inspired by the label’s Fall collection, it mixes a tough-as-nails rocker sensibility with feminine accents. Wear it and be prepared to turn heads.

How it Works

With opening notes of lychee and red berries, this scent is ultrafeminine for sure. But things get more complicated (in the best possible way) when middle notes of tiger lily and jasmine noir enter the picture. A seductive swirl of Australian sandalwood and golden amber only serve to make things more alluring. And who doesn’t love a little mystery?

When I signed up I used a code that got me a free lipstick. It is Glossybox own brand which I didn’t realize they had and then swatches of blush/lipstick with flash and the blush without flash.
Ok so that is what I will be using this month. I will check in toward the end of the month (no promises on exact date as you never know how my full-time job will go) sometime with my personal reviews.

GRWM — High Maintenance work day Part one

I thought I would show the steps, products and brushes I use getting ready for work recently. I do anything from dramatic to super simple depending on my mood and timeframe. This day was a full face and eye day. Part One since picture heavy is based on prepping the face and eyes.

First here I am sans makeup,

nikon 111813 001 - Copy - Copy

This is with my morning toner and moisturizer. Next I put on my face primers to let them settle before the foundation etc.

I love Porefessional from Benefit. It retails for 30.00. It is pricey but it is well worth it since I have large nose pores and my cheek area by my nose. It lasts a long time as I don’t apply it all over just my nose and an inch to each side of my nose bridge.

nikon 111813 005 - Copy - Copy nikon 111813 004 - Copy - Copy

Be careful though when you squeeze it out as often I get too much and have to try to suck it back in the tube. Not easy! lol Here is what I looked like with it on. It’s too bad my camera doesn’t show how well it covered the pores. I should have gotten a close up.

nikon 111813 006 - Copy - Copy

Next I put the all over primer. I have used all kinds from high end to drugstore item not meant as a primer the Monistat chafing gel. I recently purchased Lorac Porefection Mattifying Face Primer. It retails for 32.00. So far it doesn’t seem to be any more special then the Monistat or Smashbox primer.  It is another one too that too much comes out. UGH I hate that! Here I am with it on.

nikon 111813 007 - Copy - Copy nikon 111813 008 - Copy - Copy

I don’t feel like it blurs anything and I am not sure I even look that Matte here. Or do I not understand the point of a mattifying primer? I don’t think it claims to blur but I wish it did.

Next I work on my eyes. I have combination skin overall and very oily lids. What I have found to help is Boots No 7 Beautifully Matte make up base. It retails for 9.99.

nikon 111813 009 - Copy - Copy nikon 111813 010 - Copy - Copy

It is very thick and hard to spread on the face but on my oily lids it is perfect. Before I started using this product I felt my eyeshadow would fade and crease in no time. It has been heaven sent Holy Grail for me. I double the attempt for longevity by using an actual eye shadow primer. I don’t have a holy grail yet so today I am trying my primer sample from Trish McEvoy eye base essentials, I believe I have it in bare. It retails for 25.00

nikon 111813 011 - Copy - Copy

I decided to use on my lid Notoriously Morbid shadow in Cry Innocent. Full size is 5.50. The description on the site is A deceptive purple that flashes blue. It really brought out the green in my eyes. It is a favorite of the colors I have from them.

Next I used my sample of the BH Cosmetics Galaxy Chic in Asteroid I got from my Ipsy Glam Bag. It is a beautiful color. I am no longer buying from BH cosmetics but that is a rant for another day. 😀 It is of good quality and I am not a big fan of baked eye shadows but I might be persuaded to buy this if I didn’t already have plenty of palettes.

These are beautiful together. I decided though I wanted to smoke up the corner edges so I used an Urban Decay Shadow Box palette in outer V the color Zero. I used the L’Oreal smoldering eye in black. Retails roughly for 9.00 depending on where you buy it at.

I then fill in my eyebrows. I have tried eye brow pencils but they never work for me. I don’t know the right technique yet. I don’t really need too as I have gotten compliments from the Sephora people even on my brows. And I use a Salon Perfect kit from Walmrt for around ten dollars. I usually use the tool enclosed but it needs washed. I use a wax pencil and a couple eye brow shadow colors. I use the rich brown for the complete fill and I use the black on the tips to give match the missing patches.  Top picture is with one brow completed to show the difference. And of course the second is both with the Chella highlight pencil under to define. I got it from an Ipsy bag (retails for 18.00) and it is awesome.

nikon 111813 024 - Copy

nikon 111813 025 - Copynikon 111813 026 - Copy

Ugh as you can tell my eyes are two different sizes and my eyebrows sight different on my face. Gotta embrace our “flaws” regardless right? Anyone have tips on making it all look more asymmetrical?

I then used Wet N Wild brulee to help blend the look. It retails for 2.29 at drugstore.com  Then a little more highlight with Benefit Watts Up. This was this years birthday gift from Sephora and it the perfect size really. I like using it but wouldn’t want a full size which retails at 30.00.

nikon 111813 027 - Copy nikon 111813 028 - Copynikon 111813 030 - Copy

Next it is on to cleaning up under eye area. I use a make up wipe. Then follow up with Clarins Instant Smooth and Benefits Erase paste in Medium. Clarins is a filler primer and this little sample size has last me awhile. I am on the fence if I get again as retails for 34.00 and I read there might be a similar dupe now at the drugstore. Erase Pastes cancels the blue under my eyes. This sample as lasted me awhile too and retails for 26.oo. I would purchase this again but again I think there is a drugstore dupe out there.
