The power of makeup

Besides the fact my foundation is a shade too light what a difference makeup does make.

Elf gotta glow

Here is a close up of my lips before applying Eyes Lips Face new lipstick  from their studio line Gotta Glow lip tint It retails for 6.00 and I purchased it myself.

Before plain lips

After with the lip tint on. It gives a nice shiny pink tint to my lips. I love it.

Per the website…

This innovative lip tint reacts with the chemistry of your lips to deliver a personalized, perfect shade of pink! The ethereal hue gives a sheer flush of color that enhances the natural beauty of your lips. The gel-based formula glides on smoothly and is infused with Shea Butter to moisturize and nourish.

I think it does all those things and is beautiful. Have you tried the lip tint? Some say it’s a dupe for Lipsurgance by Tarte or the Dior Lip Addict lip glow. I can’t say it is but for 6.00 compared to the other prices why bother finding out 🙂

Splurge or Steal: Pen Eyeliners

I prefer to use a eyeliner pen then any other eyeliner type. For me I can get a closer more precise line. I have tried three different kinds one high end the others drugstore. Is the high end worth the splurge?

ELF Essential Waterproof liner is a 2.00, the jordana Fabuliner is 2.99 and the Lorac Front of the Line Pro Liquid liner is 23.00.

Here are the swatches. I have the Lorac in brown and black.

The ELF liner has a VERY hard tip. It is a total skip for me. The Jordana is excellent for the price BUT the splurge is worth it to me. The Lorac has a non fraying tip that is the perfect stiffness and give. I love a bargain but I won’t buy either of the drug store again.

Hope this review was helpful 😀 any other’s you can recommend me to try?

Halloween blog hop 2014: 3rd grade painting

I wasn’t sure what look I wanted to do for this blog hop. I wanted to do something unique yet simple that anyone can recreate. Then TA DA the third grade picture lets you play with your makeup and colors yet is easy to replicate. Here is how I did it.

Fresh Face

Draw flowers, rainbow, anything you want but it has to be imperfect. This is to look like a third grader painted it. I used Jordana eyeshadow pencil in Black.

Then I filled in with various cheek stains, lipsticks, and cream eyeshadows.

I blended the background making a point to not stay in the lines etc. To me the beauty of this is the child like feel. And the finish product.

  • Products used: Jordana eyeshadow crayon in Black
  • Nyx Jumbo eye pencils in Cashmere and Rust
  • Radiant Orchid Sephora pantone cream blush
  • ELF Matte Lip Color in rich red

Check out these other posts in the blog hop and have a wonderfully spooky Halloween!

Stash Review: Single shadows

A trend on youtube is gurus cleaning out their stash. I am a makeup hoarder. Do i regret all I have spent. Yes and No. The stuff I love of course not but there is a lot of deals and trends I spent money on that I do regret.

Right out the gate on this series there was nothing I wanted to purge. So this is a stash review of single shadows I own. The milani’s I just recently purchase and most of them have dual functions for me. I plan on doing a more in-depth post on this later.

And disclaimer I am far from bragging… I just like these kind of posts so wanted to do one myself. And I purchased all these items myself. So without further ado…

The Bare Minerals container where I am keeping the shadows.
MAC shadows and pigments
Milani Belle Gel Shadows
Misc items
ELF shadows … I just had to buy the Ariel collection 😀
Glitters and scaredy cat trial shadows
Makeup Geek Pigments

What do you have for single shadows. Is there anything you would like a review of? Let me know 😀

GRWM: Interview time

I had a job interview two weeks ago. I found out yesterday I got it. YEAH!! Here is how I achieved a low key but glowy look. (all items purchased by me to use.. not sure if disclaimer needed or not :D)

The eyes: I can often go overboard (but fun) on my eye makeup. I wanted to go all natural so I used my usual base of Boots No7 Beautifully Matte (to control my oily lids) and Lorac eye primer. I then used my sample from ipsy of the Bareminerals 5 in 1 eye bb cream thing. I love it and I have tried several different cream naked like cream shadows. I then used an elf point brush and applied Naked2 from the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette. I used my usual Tarte mousse on my eyebrows. I highlighted with my RMS Highlighter cream, Urban Decay whiskey for my waterline and tightline, and two kinds of mascara. LOreal original voluminous for first layer and Elizabeth Mott for the second layer.

The Face: I went super simple. I primed with Benefit’s Porefessional. Applied It Cosmetics light BB Fluid foundation (LOVE IT) I set it with a sample of Silk Naturals Perfecting powder. No contour but did highlight with the RMS again. I used City Colors Be Matte Blush. I set it with Urban Decay’s All Nighter. I decided to use my new Ipsy Bareminerals lipstick and a lip pencil from Ipsy too by Starlooks. I used the three face brushes below. An Ecotools for the blush, Bareminerals for the powder, and the Shany foundation brush for … well the foundation 😀

Viola… the end results! Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!

Makeup Story Tag

1. How old were you when you started wearing makeup?

I think around fifteen. I remember having a palette of beautiful eyeshadows but having no idea what to do with it. HA It was in a tin case and for sentimental reasons I wish I still had it. I think it was maybelline.

2. How did you get into makeup?

I got back into makeup due to a combination of youtube and my son saying my skin looks ugly. I know kids say things to not be hurtful … BUT they say the truth!! I have since turned my skin around and found a passion.

3. What are some of your favorite brands?

041 030

new vs old lorac pro freebieipsy

4. What does makeup mean to you?

Simply, a way to be creative and feel as good on the outside as I do on the inside. Or if my inside isn’t feel good it makes me feel more confident etc.

5. If you could only wear 4 products on your face what would they be?

BB cream, lip gloss, eyebrows, and mascara
6. What is your favorite thing about makeup?

The variety and how the sky is the limit.

7. What do you think about drugstore makeup vs. high end makeup?

I use and have both. Why spend more if the quality is the same or better. I do think though in some makeup areas High End trumps drugstore, like most eye shadows but indie companies can trump high end in that department as well. wpid-img_20140424_233859.jpg

8. What is one tip of advice you can give a beginner?

Go natural at first then work your way up to more colorful looks.

9. What is one makeup trend you never understood?

Bright not natural at all lip colors. Black, Gray,… pretty much the NYX macaroon lipsticks right now. I have seen some people really pull them off though.

10. What do you think about the beauty community on Youtube/Blogging community?

I think it can be a place of such sisterhood and I have met amazing people BUT there is a dark side which is sad. Let’s just all love each other OR just shut up. 😀

I was not specifically tagged for this but I am thankful it was posted on the FB page for Beauty and Fashion. Check out my past blog hops with these beautiful ladies.

Five February 2014 Favorites and a Fail

This month though a short one went fast and slow. I am swamped at work and frankly ready for a change. oopps this is not my whinefest blog (you can find that here — shameless plus once again. lol) I did use these five products most of the month and enjoyed them. The fail was an attempt to shop my stash and quickly remember why it is still in my stash!

nikon122113 100
E.L.F. kabuki brush I own three of these and are only 6 dollars better yet you can get them often at half off when a sale is going on. This is great for adding finishing powder and melting your bronzer, highlight, and blusher into a great no line face

Best Bronzer ever… a smidgen orange but with a light hand on my fair skin it works. Not holy grail BUT next to it for items in my stash.

I reviewed these MAD cosmetic eyeshadows this month. They have great color pay off, are versatile, and staying power.

I got this perfume sample from the January Glossybox and I love the scent. I love it so much that I don’t want to use it up but I did at least fifteen times this month far more than any other perfume I have.
I got this in my ipsy bag in January. It is already gone. If I had known I would love it so much I would have gotten some when I could during the ipsy discount period. Alas I did not. Boo Hoo. this stuff has made my thick lightly coarse feel like silk. I will get more the first discount chance I get!

Total Stash Fail. Poor color pay off and spotty lasting power. I am not even sure you can get these anymore. So Might be a moot point but if you can I suggest you stay away!
