November Blog Hop: Five Products I am Thankful for

1) Foundation: I have ruddy skin so it is totally needed to even out my skin tone.

2) Manicure: Whether Fake nails or your own, it is so pampering.

3) Hair tools: I have hair that is frizzy and in between curly and straight. To get it to look anything decent I need to use some kind of curling iron or straightener.

4) MAC Pigments: Need I say more lol They are so shiny and pretty and last forever on your eyes and in the amount you get!

5) Brushes: I have at least a hundred of them if not more. This picture is just a handful of the ones I own and most are not expensive ones but they work just as good to me.

What are your beauty products you are thankful for? Leave a comment below so I can check them out.

Also this blog hop is part of the facebook Beauty and Fashion Blog group. Their link is found here if you want to join. ¬†And the links below to all the people you can blog hop too. Thanks for coming ūüėÄ

Halloween blog hop 2014: 3rd grade painting

I wasn’t sure what look I wanted to do for this blog hop. I wanted to do something unique yet simple that anyone can recreate. Then TA DA the third grade picture lets you play with your makeup and colors yet is easy to replicate. Here is how I did it.

Fresh Face

Draw flowers, rainbow, anything you want but it has to be imperfect. This is to look like a third grader painted it. I used Jordana eyeshadow pencil in Black.

Then I filled in with various cheek stains, lipsticks, and cream eyeshadows.

I blended the background making a point to not stay in the lines etc. To me the beauty of this is the child like feel. And the finish product.

  • Products used: Jordana eyeshadow crayon in Black
  • Nyx Jumbo eye pencils in Cashmere and Rust
  • Radiant Orchid Sephora pantone cream blush
  • ELF Matte Lip Color in rich red

Check out these other posts in the blog hop and have a wonderfully spooky Halloween!

Beauty Hot Weather Staples August 2014 Blog Hop

I am late posting this as I wanted to by noon yesterday BUT my cubicle job got hectic and well. I apologize to the ladies in the FB group who we monthly hold these blog hops with. I have added their links at the bottom for your pleasure. ūüėÄ

The theme is Hot Weather Staples and here are mine.

a setting spray to help combat the melting effect you can sometimes get
A great bronzer. In the summer you can go shimmerier but I still prefer Matte. NYC has an inexpensive one that is excellent for lighter skin tones.
bh primer
Eye and Face Primers… Need I say more ūüėÄ This line from BH cosmetics is actually turning out well worth the price.
The summer’s Fab Fit Fun box has all your essentials. Water bottle, chapstick, shaving supplies, and most importantly sun screen! I will have a review of the box later this week.
Get them brows to stay in place. Tarte has a good waterproof brow mousse but so does anastastia and NYX.
Lastly, have some fun with your hair. Go lighter … you don’t have to go drastic like me but add some highlights to give that sun kissed look. No it doesn’t beat the heat but it can make you feel sexier!!

Red, White, and Beauty Blog hop July 2014

Welcome to another blog hope through the facebook group… I missed last months as it was a hectic time at work and home. This month’s theme is … (drum Roll please)

Though I think I might have done mine more in regards to summer essentials which was last month’s and I didn’t get a chance to be a part in. ??? Anywho… My view on this month’s theme is things I will be using for the fourth of July.

022 023

First I will be using this to exfoliate my body. This is a sample size I received in Allure’s Sample Society box in May. I just used it today and it works awesomely.

For my Face I am using this Olay. It is new to me also and used today. It leaves the skin soft and clean.

Once I am done with¬†exfoliation I will next be using this…

This stuff is like butta! It is easy to use and has a great not orange tint. I have never used self tanners but if they are all like this one I am sold. Just don’t do what I did and do your arms first. So your legs first as you will be dripping and whipping it off your arms before it is time. Or maybe it is just me. lol

I received this in some beauty box last year and have never used it. I decided with the pool and hot sun it was time to reinforce my hair. Plus a lot of us dye our hair a lighter color in the summer. I did way lighter. HMmmm maybe I am going through a mid-life crisis with all this self change/care. HA Protein is needed to refortify the hair from the dry chlorine or bleach.

I have mentioned this before but here is my fave BB Cream. It has excellent SPF and perfect for the summer months.

041 044

Lastly and true to the title, I picked these OCC lip tar Matte’s. Though they dont’ look that Matte. There is no shimmer so maybe that is what they mean. They can be mixed with all sorts of other lip tars to customize and that is really why I purchased them. That and I am obsessed with lip tars. lol

So what is your perfect Red White and beauty items for the holidays?

7) Inexpensive Perfumes.

adidas pure lightness spray If you’re looking for a light, sporty scent,Adidas Pure Lightness Eau De Toilette Spray, $12.99, is the perfect perfume for you. It’s a great light daytime fragrance, which makes it a popular choice for women who want to smell nice but don’t want to make their coworkers/study mates gag. And don’t worry — despite it being an “Adidas” (read: sporty) fragrance, it’s still very feminine with notes of apple, jasmine, and lily.

8) QVC

It Cosmetics TIGHTLINE Full Lash Line Black Mascara Primer Duo It is a great way to purchase items at a discount or in a grouping at a good price. I am completely wanting this primer. I saw it presented on the show and it looked amazing. It is It Cosmetics Tightline Full Lash Line Black Mascara Primer. What is it: Tightline Full Lash Length Black Eyelash Primer is a true game-changer in mascara and eyeliner technology. This multitasking beauty must-have uses an ultra-skinny wand to let you coat your lashes at their actual roots for the ultimate in length and volume. But the best part is, if you have sparse or missing lashes, the Tightline brush lays down black pigment along your entire lash line, filling in sparse spots for a full, beautiful lash line and the look of an eyeliner!

Who is it for: Anyone who wants lashes for miles! Anyone with sparse lashes who wants the look of a full lash line. Anyone who wants thicker, longer, fuller-looking, amazing lashes that reach their full potential. Anyone who wants the look of the Tightline eyeliner effect.

Why is it different: The Tightline Full Lash Length Black Eyelash Primer Skinny Wand gives you the power to coat each lash beginning at the root. This also creates a Tightline eyeliner effect along your upper and lower lash line, because it lays down black pigment between each eyelash at the root, creating instant definition without taking up extra eyelid space. The skinny wand also allows the conditioning serum to infuse a blend of lash-enhancing ingredients, including peptides, collagen, proteins, biotin, nettle extract, green tea, jojoba, and vitamins all the way down to the roots for the most effective dosage of nourishment and protection.

How do I use it: Starting at the root of your lashes, hold the Tightline Skinny Wand horizontally, then wiggle and sweep to the tips. For a more dramatic look, add additional coats. For a more visible eyeliner effect, lightly and gently press the Tightline Skinny Wand along the roots of your lashes to fill in the gaps. Move along the entire upper lash line for a beautiful Tightline eyeliner effect.

9) H &M Handbags. They have handbags from under twenty to over hundred. I love this one below for summer.

10) If you are worried none of these suggestions will work you can always go with a gift card. Some feel it is impersonal but I feel it gives us Mom’s a chance to shop!!

These can be found anywhere and in about any amount.

So comment, like, random thoughts leave them below. Please check out my social media sites and these blogs as well to see everyone’s take on our May blog hop!

Random Sunday 04/27/2014

I have made a executive decision. I will have three set day themes for the blog and will post various other things when I have the time or idea. The scheudle and theme is as follows:

Sunday: a week recap and upcoming things in the next week. A get to know me and my life better.

Wednesday: A question of the week for us all to get to know each other.

Friday: Will no longer be foundation reviews only but reviews in general. I am thinking something catchy like Favorite it or forget it ūüėÄ I have a thing for using the letters of the day in the overall name.

Last week my favorite instagram EOTD was …

And my favorite instagram LOTd was…

I purchased from my favorite etsy shop The Chequered Lily Apothecary. Her facebook let me know she is having a sale where the colors left are only 4.55 and the colors are never disappointing. The picture on the left is the ones I purchased and the four on the right is the free samples she sent me in my purchase. All the shadows I purchased were used in the eye look for the LOTD photo above.

My previous posts can be found here and here.

The last exciting thing that happened this week is I got approved for an account at Model Mayhem and discount approved for Frends which for Makeup Artist you can get up to 40% products depending on the brand.

This coming week, I will be part of the newest month’s blog Hop (Hint the theme is Mother’s Day Gifts)

I finally am almost done writing the post on an award I received. I love those things but one of the rules is to award it to a blog with less than two hundred followers BUT I am not sure how we tell the numbers. Anybody else know?

On a personal note, I take my son who had/has the cancer for testing to see if his learning/special needs to PTSD related. For all those parents that struggle with knowing what’s right for your children. I am a social worker by actual profession and sometimes you make a choice that it wrong tough one BUT I think it is all based on intent. Anyway I am not trying to make this blog a downer. I just mention it as I am hopeful that we find the puzzle piece that helps him move forward in life.

Ok well I also want to say I appreciate everyone who reads my blog… oh and if you didn’t notice (and well who would) I took the plunge and got my own domain. I am so super exited and happy I did. IT fits into the name of my business which is slowly starting to take off. Whoo Hoo! Please leave comment, ask questions, and random thoughts below.

And check out my social media sites. I would appreciate that as well.

Spring Product Picks Blog Hop April 2014

Once again it is time for the facebook group Beauty and Fashion Blog Community. It is a closed group but anyone who is part of our blogging community can join here.

These are my must have’s for spring. After this long winter I am so ready for nicer weather. I have promised myself to start hiking again.

028I will start with a little fashion. A pastel or white handbag is perfect for spring. I got this at Target and used the Cartwheel app for a good deal.

Another Target find. Nature jewelry that is light and simple is perfect accent. I even like to double up simple small chains for a delicate spring touch.

Pastel lavendar and corals will remind yourself and others of the beautiful flowers that bloom. If actual lipstick is too heavy for you. A light cherry wash, like a lip glaze or pigmented chapstick would do the trick as well.

Upping your moisture for your whole body and have it include an SPF is needed for your legs and arms that are now being shaved (HA) or sweat shirtless. This is a sample I got from my Birchbox. It is the latest Jergens product…. a BB Body Cream.

Rose Gold highlighters used as blushes or pale pink flushes are a light touch to a beautiful springy look.

As the weather warms up and so does the oil in our skins… or sort of. Definitely he less dry air and more sun does wonders to stop those dry patches or if naturally oily can make it worse. This Fergie powder is colorless and great at absorption and mattifying any time of the day.

Along with the help of Mattyfiers, setting sprays of different types are helpful for the spring. Here is the variety I own. Some are setting others are refreshers just in case you mattify too much. Of course just to feel fresh. a good spritz of the facial waters is an excellent way to start the day in general.

Pantone color of the year is Orchid. Here are three picks I love in this color. The top is from The Chequered Lily No 22 Princss Aurora. Next is Urban Decay Fishnet. Lastly, is M.A.D. Cosmetics Whisper Opal.

I purchased this today. I had a sample of c2 that I wore the other day with a tarte powder and I got overwhelming compliments. This shade was the only one close to my tone at the Cosmetics outlet store. It is a holy grail of a lot of makeup artists. Online it seems it is either loved or hated. There is a learning curve but I didn’t see it. We shall see I will have a full review soon on my Foundation Friday series. Oh forgot to say this is a lightweight sweat proof formula.

Lastly if you don’t want to wear foundation or want some strong spf a BB cream is an awesome alternative. The snail BB from Missha is the golden ombre to silver tube. THe red tube is their most popular the complete cover I think it is called. And finally one of the US brands I actually like is by Younique.

Below to the other blogs joining in. This is our third one and I think it grows each year. If you want to be a part of the hop next month join our group. And one thing I am not afraid to pimp is my social media.. please follow me on any and or all of them ūüėÄ

Blog Hop:13 Beauty Findings In 2013

Michelle Waters's photo.

What better way to start the year then with a blog hop. I have talked several times about the Facebook group Blogging Shares. Anyone can join and it’s for any kind of blogging not just beauty. But it just so happens the blog hop is a group of lovely ladies who do have beauty blogs. The theme is beauty discoveries new to us in 2013. I was truly amazed how fast we all came together and worked together to organize this hop. I even joked that I think next we can take over the world lol. So without any more babbling there is my thirteen… oh one more babble I had an awesome time thinking of my list. At first it was hard to think of thirteen then once the ideas starting flowing it was hard to narrow it down! It’s that life for ya lol.

Etsy:¬†This website — if you don’t know — is a great place for small shops to showcase and sale their items. It is so not new to the world but to me (and the chagrin of my wallet) it is fun to search and discover awesome independent business people. And of course my favorite find on there is The Chequered Lily. ¬†

nikon122313 036

See my review post here¬†and here. And I am expecting another package of the shadows today and even the blushes. I have not raved about the blushes but I got the shade Terracotta and it is so pigmented I was able to use it off my blush brush three times and even when I went to clean it … the product was still there. The brush was featured in my brush cleaning post found here.¬†nikon122113 036

Other companies I have found are SultryEyedDivaCO and Just Pure Minerals.  I will be having reviews of both of these companies in the near future.

Next is my very favorite¬†Beauty Guru I¬†fell in love with in 2013. I have several I follow but the lovely lady from Thrift Thick is a hidden gem in the youtube world. She has ¬†great cheeky humor and I find her monthly favorites post uber unique. And she isn’t afraid to drink on camera. I totally want her for a little sister!

Now at the beginning of 2013 it finally dawned on me how old I am getting. I still feel 26 inside but boy my skin was showing some age issues. I started looking for beauty items to help turn the tide. First was my dry patchy skin. I found a routine that has turned my skin around 100%. I did a post about some products here and it is Missha brand Skin care.

nikon 123113 044

What lead me to blogging about beauty was I got tired of my current job and wanted to try something different. It was meant initially as marketing a business that well I am slow at launching BUT the first step in my mind was taking some makeup classes. The issue is I live in the middle of no where so I did online classes through the Robert Jones Academy. He is a well known makeup artist and has a great personality. I got the two certificates and they just changed it where you have to send in photos to get graded. I think it would have been cool to have that opportunity but at the same time I got by easy and I did learn a lot just taking the tests and watching the videos.

Social Media — It has opened me up to great inspiration. I have done blogs here featuring some of the beauty looks I would love to replicate. Here is a link to my direct profile. Please add me if you’d like. I often do LOTDs and various other life things. Pinterest has been an addiction as well there isn’t anything that can’t be put on there. I love the DIY stuff and ideas as well as quotes and tattoos. The newest one I discovered is Bellashoot. Here is the link to my profile.

Confidence —¬†I have learnt to accept my uneven eyes and my thin lips. I am embracing colors even though I am over 35. I get compliments on my eye makeup and it makes my day. I have garnered enough confidence that I made myself start my business in the new year. I can do this and really what is more sexy and beautiful then inner beauty and confidence. ūüėÄ

Silk Naturals —¬†I have found another great recent company. I have a review waiting to go up when the shop opens up again after the New Year. What I love about them is they do a vegan eye shadow dupes of the Urban Decay Naked Palettes. I picked up the 3 and am loving the colors. Here is a sneak peak at the pictures I will be posting.

nikon122113 127

Hair Color — I love dark red hair but I never¬†wanted to bleach it to get the vibrancy on lighter hair until this year I discovered this brand that is designated for dying dark hair red. I can’t go through this winter without it and recommend it completely.

Lips¬†— Obsessive Compulsive Lip Tars. I tried one two years ago and hated it but purchased the Black Metal Dahlia and then bought two of the holiday sets. The key is moisture before applying and to be very light handed.¬†

nikon122113 101nikon122313 038 nikon122313 037 nikon122313 039

Eyes —¬†I have very oily lids and I picked up Boots No7 Beautifully Matte primer. It’s ok for the face but perfect as a starting base with the shadows. This is ¬†HG for me and I already have a back up. In all my GRWM posts I feature this as I really do use it every time.

nikon 111813 009 - Copy - Copy

Face¬†— By far the greatest face discovery I found this year is my Tarte Blushes. They really are long wearing and beautiful. I started with the Off the Cuff Palette for Christmas then ordered another Holiday set. I will be doing a blog post where I feature the ones I own.

nikon122313 033

Brushes —¬† I have since purchased about six of these. The¬†E.L.F. Flat Top powder brush. It is so multi tasking from powder foundation, setting powder, and blush. It is very inexpensive as well and ELF always has a ton of sales going on. I have a haul soon to post.

nikon122113 095

Eyebrows —¬†Oh man my brow game has lacked for years and I didn’t realize until this year. I finally have taught myself to stop self waxing and plucking and how to fill in the sparse areas. My newest love is the Tarte Brow Mousse. It comes with an awesome brush and I have the colors Taupe and Medium Brown. (ignore the mascara … though I do love these as well. ūüėÄ ¬†)

nikon122313 041

Ok that is it for my list. Leave questions and comments below or if you have any new discoveries you’d like me to check out in the New Year. And since it is a Blog Hop please check out and go to the posts below. Show them some love!!!!
