GRWM: Interview time

I had a job interview two weeks ago. I found out yesterday I got it. YEAH!! Here is how I achieved a low key but glowy look. (all items purchased by me to use.. not sure if disclaimer needed or not :D)

The eyes: I can often go overboard (but fun) on my eye makeup. I wanted to go all natural so I used my usual base of Boots No7 Beautifully Matte (to control my oily lids) and Lorac eye primer. I then used my sample from ipsy of the Bareminerals 5 in 1 eye bb cream thing. I love it and I have tried several different cream naked like cream shadows. I then used an elf point brush and applied Naked2 from the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette. I used my usual Tarte mousse on my eyebrows. I highlighted with my RMS Highlighter cream, Urban Decay whiskey for my waterline and tightline, and two kinds of mascara. LOreal original voluminous for first layer and Elizabeth Mott for the second layer.

The Face: I went super simple. I primed with Benefit’s Porefessional. Applied It Cosmetics light BB Fluid foundation (LOVE IT) I set it with a sample of Silk Naturals Perfecting powder. No contour but did highlight with the RMS again. I used City Colors Be Matte Blush. I set it with Urban Decay’s All Nighter. I decided to use my new Ipsy Bareminerals lipstick and a lip pencil from Ipsy too by Starlooks. I used the three face brushes below. An Ecotools for the blush, Bareminerals for the powder, and the Shany foundation brush for … well the foundation 😀

Viola… the end results! Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!

QVC Today’s Special Value, EDIVV and Being MIA

Hello Beauties,

Sorry I haven’t posted in a few days I have been travelling with limited access to my photos to include in posts. Then I got a case of tonsillitis. BBBOOOOO!

I am finally feeling better and getting caught up with posts. I plan on writing a few ahead so I don’t get behind like that again. I always say that to myself then I never do but I am in the mood to write and showcase some posts I have been wanting to do.

SO all that aside. I have to tell you about today’s QVC TSV (Today’s Special Value)

I love qvc way too much. The TSV today is a new Mally product. A sponge foundation. I am so in love with IT cosmetics that I had to try a different one. Plus it has several exclusive things at a great price. 163.00 is retail and with shipping it’s a smidgen over 70.00. Hell YA! For a shop-a-holic like me it is a no brainer plus I want to try most of what is in the kit.

Here is a picture and I got it in fair. That is the one thing I hate is you can’t tell the colors. But I figure I can bronze it up and my It cosmetics one is in light so better to have a more winter one. Right???

To learn more check out the website here. There is an interesting video sharing how the foundation works.

Lastly I found an awesome makeup swap website. The video explaining how it works can be found by clicking on the video below. The link to Edivv will give me a chance to earn sephora gift cards. It is the only “compensation” like item in mentioning this site and only if you use my link to join. I have not swapped anything yet as just joined but I have an item or two listed.

How eDivv Works

Ok well that is it for now. Comment, questions, random thoughts below. Follow either on wordpress or bloglovin please 😀 and if you don’t mind my social media sites as well found to your right. ———->>>>

Ipsy : July 2014

This is a collage of what i received. The bag was a bright pink with scallops. It is in the top five of bags I have received in over a year. So without further ado.

Bareminerals Cream Eyeshadow

Per the website : Meet the next generation in eyeshadow: creamy, long-wearing color meets exceptional skincare benefits and broad spectrum SPF protection. Chock-full of skin-loving ingredients, this breakthrough product delivers 5 benefits in one luxurious formula:
1.) 12-hour long-wearing color
2.) Super-charged primer
3.) Powerful brightening benefits
4.) Smoothes fine lines
5.) Protects with SPF
Available in a range of 10 seductively neutral shades. ipsy subscribers who receive this product will receive shades Divine Wine or Barely Nude.

I got mine in barely Nude and have used it. I love it I plan on getting a full size of this shade and maybe a second. Only downfall is the doe foot applicator. If I were to use it on clients I’d have to think of a different method to apply hygienically.

Clear Clinic Laboratories

Vanished Clear Spot Treatment

An on-the-go clear spot treatment specially formulated with menthol, glycolic and salicylic acids. Apply this potent spot treatment to quickly clear blemishes in record time. Thanks to its clear formulation, you can use Vanished during the day, under and over makeup. Its compact bottle makes it easy to take with you wherever you go.

I haven’t tried this yet but the reviews on the site or favorable.

Pixi Beauty

Mini Tinted Brilliance Balm

Packed with lip-loving ingredients, this glossy gel balm protects & hydates lips instantly. After the balm wears off, lips are left tinted with a flattering, personalized hue just for you (color & intensity depends on pH level of lips). Twist-up crayon requires no sharpening. Secure lid after use.
I got mine in uniquely Pink and I thought I wouldn’t like it but I do. It actually does moisturize and stay on awhile.

pur~protect essential daily moisturizer spf 30

Stay protected with pure flower power. Pur~lisse’s unique peptide complex, Lotus Lupine 5, and Hydra-Shield Complex, offers superior full-spectrum sun protection in a light weight nourishing moisturizer. Skin is pampered and protected against premature aging caused by the day’s rays.

Recently featured in Vogue as Editor’s Favorite Summer Sun Product, this anti-aging moisturizer has SPF 30 built-in, so you’ll get extra protection for incidental sun exposure. You’ll love the lightweight, yet nourishing, texture. Plus, it doesn’t leave skin with a white tint, so you can use with or without makeup. This moisturizer dries down to a healthy glow, and is perfect for sensitive skin.

It’s sunscreen and you can find just as good of sunscreen at walmart.
Models Own

Nail Polish in Red Sea

The Models Own SPLASH collection dives straight into summer. Revitalize your entire polish collection; wear alone for a wash effect, or over your favorite color polish for a glistening top coat. Inspired by the sea and distant shores, this pretty collection will have you dreaming of summer haze and tropical sun.

Each polish contains five different chunky hand-cut glittery flakes that are guaranteed to glisten, sparkle and refract the light. ipsy subscribers who receive this product will receive Red Sea, a wave of energetic fuchsia-red.

It’s nail polish and a nice summery color. Very thick texture which I like.
So it was a decent bag. I found something I would purchase again which is rare. I purchase the bags myself but I do get points towards items if you use my link to subscribe. The link is here.
I did cash in some of my points this month for the first time. I got this bare minerals Light it Up lipstick. It’s a beautiful coral shade. I have already gotten compliments on work for wearing it. I want to thank everyone who signed up through me. It is really appreciated!!!

Makeup Story Tag

1. How old were you when you started wearing makeup?

I think around fifteen. I remember having a palette of beautiful eyeshadows but having no idea what to do with it. HA It was in a tin case and for sentimental reasons I wish I still had it. I think it was maybelline.

2. How did you get into makeup?

I got back into makeup due to a combination of youtube and my son saying my skin looks ugly. I know kids say things to not be hurtful … BUT they say the truth!! I have since turned my skin around and found a passion.

3. What are some of your favorite brands?

041 030

new vs old lorac pro freebieipsy

4. What does makeup mean to you?

Simply, a way to be creative and feel as good on the outside as I do on the inside. Or if my inside isn’t feel good it makes me feel more confident etc.

5. If you could only wear 4 products on your face what would they be?

BB cream, lip gloss, eyebrows, and mascara
6. What is your favorite thing about makeup?

The variety and how the sky is the limit.

7. What do you think about drugstore makeup vs. high end makeup?

I use and have both. Why spend more if the quality is the same or better. I do think though in some makeup areas High End trumps drugstore, like most eye shadows but indie companies can trump high end in that department as well. wpid-img_20140424_233859.jpg

8. What is one tip of advice you can give a beginner?

Go natural at first then work your way up to more colorful looks.

9. What is one makeup trend you never understood?

Bright not natural at all lip colors. Black, Gray,… pretty much the NYX macaroon lipsticks right now. I have seen some people really pull them off though.

10. What do you think about the beauty community on Youtube/Blogging community?

I think it can be a place of such sisterhood and I have met amazing people BUT there is a dark side which is sad. Let’s just all love each other OR just shut up. 😀

I was not specifically tagged for this but I am thankful it was posted on the FB page for Beauty and Fashion. Check out my past blog hops with these beautiful ladies.

Tip Tuesday: DIY hair mask

Ok this may seem simple but I did this over the weekend and it took my fried way too many times recently hair and made it soft again. I promise!

hair mask

I used these three items but you only need two of them for the mask. I like to add some essential oils for the smell and depending on if there is something you want to treat extra. The Eucalyptus is great for an itchy scalp in my opinion.

The “recipe” I use is three parts oil to one part egg. If you have longer hair you will need more. Right now I have medium to the top of my shoulder blade hair. I use the 3:1 ratio.

3 large tablespoons of the coconut warmed up in the microwave to liquid form. Be careful to not make it too hot or the egg will cook.

Add a large egg and beat them together. They will not completely meld together but will stir nicely.

Then if you want about five or to your liking drops of the essential oil.

Note: work quickly as the coconut oil will harden again and you need it on your hair not in the bowl 😀

Your hair will be crusty and waxy. It’s ok. Leave it on there for as long as you like. I usually do an hour or two around the house. I know some people who wear it overnight.

Then shampoo to rinse out the product. It will take to or three repeats as it does get crusty 😀

Hope this helps anyone’s hair woes and tell me if you tried it and liked it or if there is ways to tweak my recipe.

Sunday Synopsis 07202014

Hello Beauties,

Another week that to me was FOREVER marked off the calendar. Why is it when we get older time gets faster? I’ve got a full day so I will make post short.

This was my week in beauty.

Favorite LOTD

This was a review day of the Maybelline Dream Wonder Fluid. CHeck that here if you didn’t yesterday 😀

Incidentally also my favorite EOTD

This is a combination of Scaredy Cat eyeshadows and MAC pigments. The picture doesn’t do it justice.

This week there will at least be a post about Ipsy and a DIY hair Mask. I love my current hair color and have gotten a lot of compliments on it but to get it there I have fried it more then I had hoped. It’s not beyond repair BUT it does need repaired.

Last week had a few ups and downs but next weekend I go to my family reunion so it will be nice to have a some extra days off. Here are some random pictures that are not beauty related for the week.

Oh and I have a big day Monday so if you pray or do positive thoughts kind of thing at about three central time Monday say a little pray and send some positivity my way. I have a job interview. I am planning on doing a GRWM for that day to feature the week after. There is a fine line between understated and overstated. 😀

Review: Maybelline Dream Wonder Fluid Touch Foundation

Shade 20 Classic Ivory

I wore this foundation for two weeks on and off. I feel I have a good fair idea of my feelings on it. First I have been trying to find it as no Bed Bath and Beyond I had access to carried cosmetics. Not locally, not on my vacation to Des Moines and Minneapolis. Boo lol

001 002

First day before and after foundation only. It covers well and has a nice satin finish. I think I got a good shade match.

017 025

The next time I wore it I decided to take after photos. This was after ten hours of wear. It is mostly worn off and it slipped into my pores. But it doesn’t claim to be long wear though either.

026 032

This day I mixed it with Estee Lauder Double Wear. It mixed well but it did not help the longevity of the foundation. This is after twelve hours right before I took it off for the day.

My final day wearing it for review and It suits well to an easy natural day.

My overall thoughts:

Pros — Beautiful Finish, price point is decent, easy to apply (I used a real techniques expert face brush)

Cons — It is hard to tell what the shade is i the bottle, not a full usual ounce, and for all day wear you will be disappointed. It should last through a none hectic work day though. Prime well so help minimize sinking into larger pores.

Have you tried it?  Thoughts? Next I am going to review foundation wise Hard Candy’s new Just Face it Featherweight formula One Step Foundation.
