How My Posts Would Look If I Retouched My Photos

This blogger is preaching the truth today. I love her blog, personality, and how she does unique looks. She keeps it real. Go check her out!!!

If you are a regular to my blog, and have read my “about me” page. You are aware at my dislike for retouching and photoshopping (and passing it off as real life). So take this as a warning, this post is probably going to offend some people. I’m not sorry, but at least I warned you!

I don’t own a copy of Photoshop, but I have used it before. As of right now I use Google Picasa for all my cropping and collage making. I created a blog button recently and I used a program that has photo retouching tools, so I signed up for a membership so I could do this post.

Foundation Friday 03282014

Today’s might be “controversial” as some people might not find this to be a foundation. It can be a primer/helper or I do know some people that wear it as a foundation. I am putting it in the foundation review category because it’s no different to me then when I use a foundation powder over liquid. With this disclaimer and the one I purchased his product with my own funds and in no way had anything to do with my opinion. So without any more babbling 😀 I am reviewing….

It retails for 32.00 us in most places except QVC which has it for 39.50 which includes a stand and brush.

The consistency is thick like a mousse and it very much on the yellow side.

I wore it for two days and here was my results.

019023 028

The first picture is the main area of redness I want to cover. This day I did add all over the face with a powder foundation over it. It was very yellow on my fair neutral face but it did get rid of the redness. It was beautiful on but I had to wear a hoodie that day to camouflage how different my face color was from my neck.By the end of the day I of course look tired HA but also this is how it wore off on me after twelve hours. I have combination/normal skin. My chin is the worst for oil!

So I tried it one more day with a different top powder foundation.

This time I used a different powder foundation and in natural light the coloring was not so yellow. The second picture is with a flash and does show a slight yellow. End of day wear with the last picture.

Overall thoughts

It is worth the money though use it sparingly as that pot if used as your primary foundation (I believe) would go quick. Thankfully you don’t need a lot of it. I plan on giving it another review when it is summer and I am slightly less fair. I really just can’t use it right now because of the yellow. I am going to stick to my green primer to tone down the redness. I know I am all over the place but as I am thinking about it … if I had rosecea I would very much wear this. I bet the yellow is not noticeable against the much ruddier red that causes.

Have you tried it? What where your thoughts? Comments and questions in general please leave them below 😀

When beauty meets real life

I debated sharing this because this is suppose to be a fun blog.  But life Can’t be fun all the time. I shared a link below to a previous blog i had.  It was a happy blog too but i had to take a hiatus because my Son’s brain tumor was discovered. He was seven. Today we go for another mri this time fearful it is back. Just to show how brave he is and give some awareness to childhood cancer I am sharing the raw post from the night before his big surgery. Looks like there is an issue with pictures but the text remains.  Prayers … positive thoughts. ..whatever your beliefs are those things are needed today. Thank you.

THis blog will have a bit of a scrap hiatus http://superchick2006.blogspot.com/2009/07/this-blog-will-have-bit-of-scrap-hiatus.html

This Month's Box

Atelier Cologne Vanille Insensee Cologne Absolue — We fell in love with Atelier Cologne’s Vanille Insensée Cologne Absolue at first sniff. Unlike most vanilla scents, this highly concentrated blend of jasmine, vanilla, and lime is fresh, not sweet. Happily, the long-lasting fragrance lasts all day — we’re smitten and you will be too.

Vasanti Brighten up! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator — To fully appreciate this professional-grade scrub, a brief skincare lesson is in order. Let’s start with enzymes: These potent molecules actually dissolve the bonds that hold dead skin cells together. Next up are microderm crystals: ultrafine minerals that buff away tired skin. Vasanti’s multi-action exfoliator features both these skincare wonders, plus healing natural ingredients to get the jump on irritation. The result? Renewed, refreshed skin without any redness. How it Works — This powerful exfoliator mimics the results of professional microdermabrasion, minus the potential for redness and sensitivity. First, papaya enzymes break down dead cells while evening out your skin tone. Next, dermatologist-approved microderm crystals fade the appearance of fine lines and acne scars, leaving skin smooth and free of imperfections. Finally, aloe vera, coconut, and vitamins B and E nourish fresh skin to keep it free of irritation. How to Use —Three to five times a week, wet your face and massage a pea-sized amount of product into skin, concentrating on trouble zones. Rinse away. Used consistently, a single tube will last you four to six months.

theBalm cosmetics How ‘Bout Them Apples — Like Matt Damon’s famous one-liner in Good Will Hunting, this dual-purpose cream palette from theBalm® is destined to be a classic. Each one of these easy-to-blend shades can be used on both cheeks and lips, and they won’t streak or fade once applied. Have your way with six orchard-inspired colors, from a perky Cobbler red to a demure and sophisticated Caramel.

Obliphica Intensive Hair Serum — Sometimes the best treatments take time and maintenance, but in a 140 character-based world, sometimes we want a little more instant gratification. Once applied, this nourishing serum gets to work, reviving damaged, colored, and all-around unmanageable hair without weighing it down—for a smooth, shiny Instagram-worthy finish.

Jergens BB Body Perfecting Skin Cream — There’s no shortage of options when it comes to finding a heroic BB cream or tinted moisturizer for the face. But for years, self-tanner was our only option when it came to perfecting the skin on our arms and legs. Enter our latest Birchbox Find: a complexion-correcting moisturizer for the whole body. This five-in-one formula from Jergens® works on multiple levels to hydrate, illuminate, visibly firm, even skin tone, and reduce the appearance of imperfections. As if that weren’t enough, it absorbs into skin faster than you can say “flaky.” You’ll see visible results in as little as five days.

Alright so I will have my results middle of next month though I am behind on February’s review. Where did this month go?????

Friday Foundation 032114

Today I am showing if there is a difference in the new formula of Estee Lauder Double Wear Old and New formulas. I guess some time last year some government rules made Estee Lauder have to tweak the formula. Here are the pictures below and I will round-up my final thoughts at the end.

**** Updated to let you know if you are using the new or old formula. I purchased mine three months ago but the new formula had been out most of last year. I picked mine up at the Cosmetics Outlet store. I purchased a full bottle in 1N1 Ecru. The shade 1N1 on the website and I picked up as a sample is Ivory Nude. If you have the older version and want to find the new shade name just use the website. 😀

Ok so as far as wearing the same. In my opinion it didn’t matter if I used primer or no primer both sides wore the same. Now for long wearing I did not find this to be very long wearing. You can see by the end of the day it was splotchy. Yuck. BUT I like to use it as a mixer with other foundations. On its own I think the color is too yellow on me and I seem to not know how to not make it look cakey. But that is probably another post all together where I show my overall thoughts on the product.

In conclusion if I didn’t make it clear enough already. To me… there is no difference in the old and new formula. I have seen online where people do feel it is different so my opinion is just one. If you’d like to share yours below or let me know how you apply it without it being cakey so I can test it as a foundation in general I would appreciate it.

When Skincare Goes Wrong

Last night I went to use one of my products from my Fab FIve box. It did not go so well. Now I don’t think it was the product itself. I think the instructions were not clear. At least not to me so I think probably more use error than product issues. I will update when I talk about the box. Anyway… I put a huge slathering of this enzyme peel with huge microderm abrasion crystal that I did not know was in there. I just thought it a peel. So I packed it on and fairly quickly wiped it away. Here was the results.

It hurt A LOT!!! And I was scared I did some real damage. I put ice on it and it seemed to help after putting the last of my sheisado sample moisture cream on as well. Within a half hour the pain was gone and by morning the redness as well.

What a lesson in being careful in what you decide to use or do to your skin. I rarely have allergic reactions but I have complete sympathy for those that have ones often.

I am a naughty blogger!! — And a list of Droolable Beauty items

I feel so neglectful on here. Not to bore or be depressing but I’ve had a lot of personal things distracting me. BUT I am committed to getting back on track. Some time this week I will be posting my reviews of last months birchbox and ipsy and show what I am working on reviewing this month.

Friday foundation Fail 031313

Wow I just realized it’s friday the thirteenth right? or am I a day off? HA it is too late for me to worry if I am wrong lol. We are on vacation in Branson MO for a reunion for the camp my sons go to who have or have had cancer. It is a blast every year. This year we are seeing a tiger and magic show. So with working and packing, and then I had other family things come up I had to take care of I did not download the pictures I wanted to post to do a review. I also refuse to let myself already let this weekly theme go to the wayside already. SOOOO Here is foundation pictures for my GRWM posts I already have saved in my wordpress media. Like a Flashback Friday 😀

Ben Nye Matte in three color ranges
I used a stiple to put it on. It is very thick and pigmented.
I didn’t like how it applied but at this point I think it is me NOT the product. It is on my list to play with for a full review.
My favorite MAC foundation and well only one I have tried long term. It is great for dry skin. I used it more last year but this year I am more oily so I am about trying something with longevity.
Gives my skin a dewy look that I don’t mind
nikon010814 021
Graftobian which is along the same lines of the Ben Nye a little goes a long way.
nikon010814 022
I wanted a blank canvas for my slytherin look and boy did it give it ha obvious this is too ivory for me. I like to use a concealer more than a foundation.
nikon122313 017
When I wanted to recreate a look of Kelly Osbourne I mixed MAC Mineralized and Kevyn Aucion sensual skin enhancer
nikon122313 020
Mixing the two really brightened up my face. and I think a little less dewy mixed. Wat do you think?
nikon 111813 034
Another one my list to do a full review. I like this one but hasnt reached Holy Grail. I will tell ya why in another post.
nikon 111813 036
I don’t think this photo does it justice.

So that is it for now. If any of these you would like reviewed quicker then another please post below. I will try and make it happen 😀 I hope everyone is having as awesome of a weekend as I will!
